I work in an event provider company, the main tasks include taking care of the dogs, safaris, customer service and maintenance.
In summer, the work hours are between 9 and 16, in winter between 7.30 and 18. An average day includes giving water to dogs in the morning, making dog sleds, receiving customers, doing safaris with them, possible lunch or coffee for customers, kennel tour, disassembling the sleds, feeding the dogs, cleaning the kennel and maintaining the equipment.
As a sled dog guide you get to spend a lot of time in nature. The work is physically demanding so you stay in good shape. In general, it’s fun working with animals.
Depends on who you ask. When you work long days, you don’t feel customer service oriented all the time. For some people the work is tough because of long and physically demanding days. In winter it’s also dark all the time.
